③The question whether we should go there must be decided then.

★whether與不定式連用時(shí),不能用if。如:

②They dumped their bags on my floor and left. 他們把袋子胡亂放在我的地板上就走了。

③We must stop them from dumping waste in the river.

★fight的原義是“打仗,戰斗”,也可引申為一般的“斗爭”,指力圖戰勝某人或某事物。fight可作及物動(dòng)詞用,意思是“和……作戰(作斗爭,打)”;fight可作不及物動(dòng)詞用,其后跟against, with, for等介詞引起的短語(yǔ)。fight for表示“為……戰爭(斗爭、奮斗)”;fight against表示“為反對……而斗爭,和……作斗爭”;fight with表示“和……斗爭”(此時(shí)相當于),還有“和……在一起戰斗”的意思。如:

  ①We are fighting for peace. 我們在為和平而戰斗。

②Thy fought with the Italians in the last war and against them in this.
