do you think / believe / guess / suppose / suggest等是插入語(yǔ),其后要用陳述語(yǔ)序,不能使用疑問(wèn)語(yǔ)序。例如:

What do you think her father is? 你認為她爸爸是干什么工作的?(不能說(shuō)What do you think is her father?)

have no choice but to do是一固定短語(yǔ),意為"除......之外,別無(wú)選擇"。but在此句中是介詞,作"除了......以外"(= except)解,往往用于含有否定意義的句子中。例如:

There is no one here but me.這里除了我以外沒(méi)有別人。

They had no other choice but to surrender. 他們別無(wú)選擇,只好投降。

but用作介詞時(shí),后面還可接動(dòng)詞原形。這種情況常出現在but前面出現實(shí)義動(dòng)詞do / does / did作謂語(yǔ)或固定搭配can not but / can not help but(不得不)中。例如:

I can do nothing but wait here. 沒(méi)有別的辦法,只能在這兒等。

I can't help but feel sorry for her.我只能為她難過(guò)。

I can not but admire his courage.我不得不佩服他的勇敢。

A large quantity of blouses were on sale. 大量罩衫有售。

the quantity of后跟復數名詞或不可數名詞構成的短語(yǔ)作主語(yǔ)時(shí),謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞通常用單數。例如:

The quantity of books in the library is amazing. 圖書(shū)館里的藏書(shū)數量驚人。

The quantity of heat in the office has not been increased. 辦公室里的熱量沒(méi)有增加。

(large) quantities of后跟復數名詞或不可數名詞構成的短語(yǔ)作主語(yǔ)時(shí),謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞通常用復數。例如:

Quantities of food (nuts) were on the table. 桌子上有許多食品(堅果)。
